Did you know that…
Did you know that it’s hard to find a name for a newsletter column by a Priest in Charge? It’s much easier for a rector or a vicar. There’s “The Rector’s Ramblings,” for instance, or “The Vicar’s Voice.” But I can’t think of anything catchy for a Priest in Charge. So I am reaching back into my childhood to borrow a name. “Did You Know That…” comes from a column written by someone dearly loved— my grandfather, Poppy or Scotty Endicott as his friends called him. I was fortunate to enjoy a four-week vacation break this fall. Upon returning from a trip in October, life at church got busy for me. The annual giving team: With others, I played a role in this year’s stewardship campaign. It was gratifying to see that your generosity was abundantly evident in ThanksLiving: Grateful Giving. Pledge numbers and proceeds increased significantly relative to prior years. Thank you! Christmas can be a tough time of year. Perhaps this is your first holiday after the loss of a loved one. Maybe you’ve been divorced, or lost your job, or have a military child or spouse in harm’s way. Maybe you are struggling with depression. Christmas Eve Services
Our Christmas Eve service is going to be very special made so by our Godly Play students under the able leadership of Laura Harper and Amy Hinton. We have three newly trained acolytes who will be on the job on this most holy night. Other students will be ushers, gift bearers, readers and an intercessor. They have worked hard to be ready to shoulder the work usually done by adults. The service will have traditional elements that Episcopalians across the country love. Read more
